“Literary & Battlefield Tourism: Representations of Waterloo in the Intertextual Network of Diaries of Dorothy, Mary (1820) and Dora Wordsworth (1828)”, Rogério Puga, FCSH-Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Abstract
This masterclass analyzes the representations of the Waterloo battlefield by Dorothy, Mary and Dora Wordsworth in 1820 and 1828 as literary war tourism, as well as the way in which this intertextual network of travel texts allowed the female authors to inscribe themselves in the literary tradition of British glorification after Napoleon’s defeat through themes such as mass tourism and the consumption of relics.

Legacy of War, Pillars of Peace: German WWII Bunkers and Fortifications as Touristic Assets in Northern France, Belgium, and Poland”, Gonçalo Silva, mestre em Intercultural Studies for Business.

Abstract
German WWII bunkers and fortifications in France, Belgium, and Poland have undergone a transformation from military structures into historical and touristic assets. Key sites such as Wolfsschanze, the U-Boat Pens of Lorient, and the Merville Battery played strategic wartime roles and are now preserved as heritage landmarks. Their repurposing for tourism involves infrastructure development, visitor engagement, marketing strategies, and ethical considerations. Through case studies like Bunker Valentin and Vienna’s Flaktürme, the research highlights the balance between historical preservation, community involvement, and economic sustainability, ensuring these once-symbols of war now serve as places of education, remembrance, and reflection.
